Domain Registration

This test checks to see if information about the domain can be found in the domain name registry.

When a domain name is registered, the registrar (the company that sold you the domain) will put certain information into the public domain name registry. Using the Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) and/or WHOIS protocol, it should be possible to retrieve this information. This information will include the expiration date, contact information for the owner and various other basic information about the domain name. Most registrars support private registrations. If this is enabled, the contact information will be hidden behind a proxy which protects the owner's information.

ValidBot will attempt to retrieve this information and will then run additional tests on whatever it discovers. If nothing is found, it is unlikely that the domain name has been successfully registered.
