Proper Key Length

Confirms that the SSL certificate uses strong encryption.

If an SSL certificate is found for the server, this test checks to make sure that the length of the key is at least 2048 bits if using the RSA algorithm. If using the newer ECDSA algorithm it make sure the key length is at least 256 bits. If keys do not have sufficient length, they can be cracked by brute force and an attacker could break the encryption.
