Private Registration
Tests that the registrant's personal information remains private.
Most registrars have an option to keep the contact information of the domain's owner private. This means that the domain registry will use a proxy for listing contact information. Some registrars offer this service for free and others charge a fee. We recommend enabling this feature to prevent the registrant's private contact information from being revealed. With a public record, you might get spam emails, unwanted phone calls or extra snail mail.
Because different registrars handle private registration differently, and because we don't know the registrant's real address, this is not a test that we can reliably run. Some registrars indicate that the contact information is private, so we can run this test when that happens. If ValidBot is unable to determine if your registration is private, you will see a suggestion to manually check this information.
