Page Title

Checks the title of the page to make sure it exists in the right spot and is a good length.

Every webpage needs to have a <title> tag in the <head> section of the html. If it doesn't, there will be nothing intelligent to display in search results for the website, or in an open tab in the user's browser. A page title should concisely and accurately describe the page's contents without being overly stuffed with keywords. Imagine the title of a link that you would want to click on, and use that.

This test will check for the title's existence and then test it for length. A title that is too short may not accurately describe the contents of the website. A title that is longer than 60 characters may get truncated in search results.

For more information on selecting a good page title, check out the Title Tag page at Moz.com.
